wad ? cap and ball

i am baffled as to why wads for cap and balls are so expensive, so following advise from other shooters, i located a hollow punch at Harbor Freight which is 7/16 ID. or .4375. Would this size wad work in the Ruger Old army?

Thanks Articap, I guess after 150 years all of the questions have been asked. That link you supplied was just what i needed.

Everything written is so linear that it seems to make us all go around in circles to find anything that we need.
It's even time consuming to locate anything in a store without walking up and down aisles and around in circles, especially those building supply stores! :D
