I have an A bolt micro in 223 wssm. i plan on making a 6.8 spc out of it for my kids. can i just by a new bolt head and replace the one thats currently on it. along with the barrel? i would have my smith at work open up a 223 head to fit the odd size rim of the 6.8 round

The 223 wssm rim is much larger than the 6.8 spc. You need a new head, but for a different reason.

The bolt on a Browning is not modular, so it's not a matter of replacing the bolt head, and aftermarket bolts are not available. Perhaps a call to Browning parts & service will yield what you are looking for, but it won't be cheap. Or rebarrel to a different cartridge that uses the same bolt face.

I think with that .535 rim in a short action he's limited to other WSM calibers as choices, or maybe the RSAUM series.

There's the 223 WSSM, 243WSSM, 25 WSSM, 35 WSSM . . . . or another bolt. Not very many options, right?

browning bolts are modular, i need to know if all the bolt heads are the same external dimensions. or if the mag. bolts are larger?

OK, I stand corrected, Browning bolts are modular. Numrich has some listed, but I would still call Browning first.
