View Full Version : New AR-15
November 13, 2010, 11:50 PM
I just got one of local gun dealers to order me a new Daniel Defense AR15 model XVEZ for $1150.00 and will receive it this coming Wednesday. This is my first AR15 and can't wait to get to the range. Have I bought a good gun for price and any suggestions for scope and additions? I think the Trijicon Acogs are really neat.

I really would appreciate your thoughts about what kind of scope to put on the AR-15. I've heard some say a powered scope and some red dots. I will be target shooting at 100 yds. But I would like ability to shoot longer distances of 3 to 4 hundred yds. Have looked through a Acog and Eotechs and Aimpoints. This Daniel Defense AR-15 is my first . What would all you AR-15 black gun owners put on your gun.

I'd go with the ACOG. For a hundred yards or less, I like Eotech.

Aimpoint micro or ACOG

I looked through an Acog 3x30 for about $550 and the 4x42 for about $780. Are there any really significant differences except $230.
Also anyone use the Sig vertical grip/ light combo. Do you like this combo versas rail light.

I talked with an recent ex-marine at a gun store and he recommended the EOTech with the magnifier over the Accog. That way, I get ability of up close range shooting and longer range shooting.
What are thoughts about this?

That sounds like a pretty sweet setup.

any suggestions for scope and additions
I may be old fashioned, but I personally would master my iron sights first and spend my $$$ on ammo to practice with. Once I could hit targets reliably from point blank, out to 300 yards with my irons, I would then start thinking about optics.

I have an ACOG on my Daniel Defense. You will love that gun!

Had the best price over your way. I'm in K'ville and it might be worth the drive as that is a decent price.
