Congrats on the M1A. I've never heard of anyone easily acquiring one, there has always been a great deal of sacrifice made, whether money, time, or trade in a favorite.
This rifle will last you a lifetime though. Shoot it well. I'm sure that you'll be able to replace that DW 1911 soon enough.
Do you have any plans for it? An aftermarket stock or a scope mount? The stainless barrel looks really really good btw.

you are gonna love that rifle so much their gonna have to pry it out of ur cold dead hands to pass it to ur heirs. Mine is a scout/squad, and damn if i dont have to fight the urge to go to the range every night!!!

austin maybe save some money for a scope mount, thats all I'm planning for now but thats maybe for christmas, for now iron sights should be just fine, 100yds should be interesting..yah sometimes you just have to do what you have to do to get your dream rifle..

A M1A dosn't have to be gimiced up to shoot well, shoot it as is until the barrel is gone, then replace the barrel with a good Barnett Match Barrel.
You cant gimic your way to good shooting.

Take Kriegways advice. Find a match High Power match and go shoot it.

You are going to love that rifle. I have pretty much stopped using the scope on mine and just shoot the iron sights.
It is a real hoot to bang the 300 yard gong with the iron sights.
When you get ready to buy extra mags, be careful who you get them from.
Checkmate makes them for Springfield and they are a whole lot cheaper than what Springfield gets for them.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy mine. If you don't, I will provide shipping instructions. . .

Hello folks! I was able to try my M1A today and man I love this thing!!I only had 40 rounds becs i just want to get zeroed at 100yds but that did not happen becs stupid me I started fiddling with the sights even before i shot it so I ended up wasting 20 rounds trying too zero at 100yds:mad:.So on my last box I decided to just do my zero at 50yds,I finally figure out where my shots are going half way with my last box:(, so here is my last 5 shots the shot above was my last 3, 1/2 inch at 50yds is not that bad right??Here is a video of me and my target at 50yds..
Here is my target,I was using federal 150gr ammo..

Take your time to know your iron sights. Before I joined the Marines, I had no interest in adjusting the iron sights on my rifles, didn't really understand them much. But once you learn the characteristics of your rifle, the trajectory of your particular round, and good sight alignment, iron sights can be a very effective tool!
