Hi, I was just curious if anyone here had any experience with any brand of the 100 round drum magazines. I am here in Korea and would like to get a couple for my duty M4 but am not quite sure how reliable/durable they are. So any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

IF they are Beta Mags...they run flawlessly in semi or full auto.

IF they are the metal Chinese mads mags....AVOID them !

They're a neat concept, but honestly for duty in Korea it would be a little overkill. Something a "gear-do" or someone who wants "tacti-cool" gear. I've been to Korea in the Army, and don't see a need. They would seem to be cumbersome on your body armor.

If you want something more practical, and this is just my opinion, find some of the count-down mags, like those below...

They had reliability problems with them in Iraq and Afganistan. Due mainly to sand IIRC. Don't know how well they would do in Korea.

Not needed unless you get into a war. Heavy, unweildy, and far far less reliable than a standard box mag.

I've also heard they were designed to be throw away, for gunning down hordes of invading commies...so could still be useful in Korea, I guess :p

I can't remember, but doesn't a standard issue magazine weigh 1.03 lbs when loaded? Where as in that picture that thing weighs 4.110 loaded? For about the same weight, you get an extra 20 rounds, and a little bit more "say" in how you can set up your gear.

The mag in that pic is a 100rd mag...

I know, that's where I quoted the weight for it from.
