Howdey,

I know that ghost ring sites are illegal for IDPA. And the rule book basically states that any standard configuration open rear sites are acceptable. What about half ghost rings? I saw a couple of sets of this type site in the Brownell catalogue. I asked around a bit and got conflicting answers.

As a side note, I am not looking for an advantage in an IDPA match. I wear bi-focal glasses and have a hard time with keeping my focus on the front site.

Thanks.

Perhaps you could remove the rear sight entirely.

You might try the IDPA Website at www.idpa.com (http://www.idpa.com) . In the FAQ section, a question is posed about the legality of Ashley Express sights. The answer is that since they are considered to be of standard notch and post design, they are allowed.

Since your abbreviated ghost ring is nothing more than a wide notch, they should be perfectly legal for IDPA.

Since I'm not on the IDPA Board, all standard disclaimers apply.

If anyone is interested, I contacted Tom at IDPA Member Services and was told that the half ghost ring sites are legal.
