I took the day off and spent a couple hours at the range today. I had two rifles to break in, my AR-15 I built and my new Savage 10 HS Precision in 308. I will list the specs of the rifles below, I know you guys/gals will want to know.
================================
- AR15
Stag stripped lower
RRA lower parts kit
Timney 3lb skeletonized trigger
18" DPMS SASS Heavy Fluted 5.56 Upper
Magpul PRS Stock
Bushnell Elite 5-15x40mm scope
Wilson Combat one-piece scope mount
- Savage 10FCP in .308
HS Precision Stock
24" Bull Barrel
Warne scope mount and rings
SWFA 10x42 Super Sniper scope
Accutrigger set to 1lb.
=================================
After zeroing both rifles at 100 yds, I shot some groups at 100 and 200 yards. I didn't have a really good rest to shoot from, I only had my old shooting bags that I don't really prefer (gotta get some sand bags soon). The AR performed really well, it seems I shot it a little better than the 308. I'm really, really certain I can shrink the 308's group size if I get a better rest and go prone. Maybe the groups will shrink once I work up my own load as well...
All in all, it was a good day at the range. Hmm... Is there ever a bad day at the range? I scanned a couple of the targets and will supply a couple pics of the rifles. So, check it out and let me know what you think...
