View Full Version : Wood or synthetic stock for Mini 14?

Kind of torn, but am leaning more towards traditional wood. Gun will be stainless. I don't hunt and don;t plan to carry it through the woods very often.

I also like the color of their laminated stocks, but there's not a normal-shaped one for the Mini-14. I like the Hogue synthetic one better than the Ruger synthetic, but a nice wood one is probably the best.

I've had a variety of Mini-14 configurations, but I've ended up realizing that my Ranch models just seem best suited to a factory wood stock. I've enjoyed refinishing them, as birch accepts stain in some very interesting ways when you strip it down and start from bare wood. I had a Mini-14 set up with all the tactical gear, but I really thought it lost its identity without a wood stock, so I sold off all the black plastic & put it back in wood. I must be getting old...;)
