I have looked at a 5R in a .300 WM as I have one in a 7.62 and it is a real shooter. Does any one have any hands on experience and an objective opinion with the 5R in .300 WM? Also what is your opinion on the barrel wear rate on this rifle?

I imagine it wears out the leade like any other 300WM - a lot is dependent on how you load it.
Is there a reason you are asking about 300 WM and 338 Lapua?

Yes, I've been wanting to replace a shot out .300 wm and was looking at the 5r as I already have one in 7.62 that shoots exceptionaly well. So I wondering if the .300 wm shoots as well.
My dealer also had a 700 P in a .338 L thats been hiden in the back that I find very intriguing and the economics of it makes it very worth while if they have the accuracy normally associated with the .338 L.

what about re-barreling what you already have, with a new custom barrel, of the caliber of your choice? Last time I checked this could be done for around $200-$300. I could be wrong....

Contact Texas Brigade Armory. Mike Lau can tell you whatever you want to know on barrels. Good luck!

i hated the 5 r barrell when i was on active duity you are stuck to firing m 118 ammo witch is not allways at hand. i would have been nice to have something that could fire any 7.62 at hand . but the m110 has fixed all that. the only m 24 in 300 wm were at socom and we never had enough ammo for them so they stayed in the arms room. can i ask why would you want a 5 r barrel ??
