Anyone have experience with this rifle? It really looks like a good shooter. Looking around casually for a .308 rifle to add to my collection, and this looks like a nice pickup.

Thoughts, comments? Probably will mount a Leupold 6.5-20x 50mm VX3-L Optic on it, or something similar.

Not going to be used for hunting, just fun long range shooting.

I generally like Rugers, I have several, but they are not known for extreme accuracy. I recently got an itch for a similar rifle and went with the FN Patrol rifles being sold thru www.cdnnsports.com They are Winchester actions with FN heavy barrels and the same Hogue stock that is on the Ruger. I caught them with free shipping so mine came in at $725 total including transfer fee.

I've only had mine to the range twice and have less than 30 rounds thru it. On the first range trip it didn't care for any of the 150gr. reloads or most of the factory loads, but it shot 168 gr. Federal match ammo into a 1/2" group at 100 yards. I bought some 168 grain match bullets and loaded them. I only loaded 9 rounds to see how they would do. Both 3 shot groups were less than 1/2" at 100 yards. I decided to try the last 3 rounds at 200 yards and got another 1/2" group. I like this rifle.
