Here’s one for the mall ninjas…

This story was forwarded to me by a friend in Manila. It occurred barely 30 hours ago in the premier shopping mall of the Philippines’ central business district.

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/breakingnews/metro/view/20091018-230745/1-killed-1-hurt-in-mall-robbery

To sum it up, six heavily-armed robbers decked in bomb squad uniforms forced their way into the high-end section of the shopping complex and proceeded to rob the Rolex store on the ground floor just around lunch time. They were accosted by two plainclothes cops who happened to be on the second-floor walkway overlooking the Rolex store, and a shoot out ensued.

The bad guys had the advantage in firepower---five M-16 rifles, various handguns, and a grenade launcher. The plainclothes cops had only .45 pistols, but had a good positional advantage. When fired upon, they had only to step back from the edge of the concrete walkway to escape return fire.

Final tally?

Robbery cut short. One bad guy dead, one bystander injured. Cops both safe.
Reports indicate that the armed robbers simply lost their nerve in the face of armed resistance.

Analyze this!

Two very brave cops indeed!

As a matter of interest, in South Africa it is noticeable that in a large percentage of incidents BGs back off when confronted with deadly force, many times without shots being fired.

It appears that they prefer to live and look for softer prey.

And if I may add, those two cops were Police Officer 1, meaning rookie policemen that happens to be on the area when the BG's decided to pull a heist.

+1 on the posts above.

Those cops are definitely two outstanding examples of courage beyond the ordinary!

I'm still getting reports on that shooting incident...below are pictures I just got, of an article in the local morning papers:

"One man with courage is an Army", but having tactical situational advantage is
"PRICELESS!"

Plus being armed with .45 and KNOWING how to use it, HELPS!

Never heard it (guess 20 is too young) but I certainly can't argue with that, +1.

Training, leadership, discipline. These are the things that make up for numbers and superior weapons.
