Drinking and being protected

I would like to know what you do with your CCW when you have a few drinks at night. I am not talking about drinking in excess or at a party, etc. I am specifically talking about being at home, drinking a beer to unwind from the day. Do you keep your CCW on you, in the coffee table drawer, locked up in the safe, etc. I do not have kids, so please do not include them in your responses.

If I'm legal to drive, I'm legal to carry. There's a greater chance that I'll be involved in a vehicle accident than I'll need to use my handgun, so I don't see an issue here.

When drinking, I no longer drive, or carry a firearm, period. Once upon a time, probably very likely, but no longer.

Im with Don on that one. I don't feel the need to disarm myself just because I have a beer or two...

In my youth and before I got my ccw I used to drink out at bars. Nowadays the most I'll ever really drink is maybe one beer and I'll be home so I'm not too concerned about putting away my ccw.

OP asked what you do with your carry piece while at home if you've had a few. Not how well you drive after knocken em back...

I don't carry much. Never concealed at least. Anyways though, when I drink my guns stay wherever they were before I started drinking. Meaning I just leave 'em be until I sober up. No shooting, dry firing, cleaning etc... I have better things to do when I drink and, no, I will not disclose them!

Oh and saying a prayer to St. Monica can't hurt either...

its beside me at home. if i drink outside the house its either in the trunk or locked up at home. can't drink/carry in GA legally.

Everybody is always so serious about carrying all the time, never knowing when you'll need the gun, can't protect yourself if the gun is at home, etc. But come on, just exactly how many people get their life threatened in the local supermarket? Not very many. But, how many people get mugged leaving a bar at 2 AM? LOTS. So, I never understood the guy who concealed carrys his gun to Home Depot on Saturday morning, but is so self righteous about not taking the gun with him when he goes out on the town Saturday night. I'd do the opposite. I've never felt threatened at Home Depot, but sure as heck have felt mightily threatened on my way out of a bar at 2 AM. That's why when I go out at night, I carry a gun.

Nor into mine.

Bottom line folks, TFL is about responsible firearms ownership. Guns & booze just don't mix.... period.
