I know where there is a absolutely perfect M1 Garand, Un-shot, brand new Original not a remake!

What's something like that worth on the open buy it now type market?

An "unshot" M1? Is it some kind of pre-production presentation rifle? Probably worth a small fortune if it exists and is really on the market. go to the CMP website (http://www.odcmp.com/) and see what collectible "shot" versions are selling for on auctions.

Gas trap? Manufacturer (Springfield, Win, HRA)? Plain M1 or M1d or something else?

I suppose that is possible, but I would really hold it suspect. More I'd expect a counterfit or a rebuild and an out right lie.

My guess would be a NOS parts gun. Do the numbers match? The only way I could see an unfired Garand would be from the last production runs, still in cosmoline.

I'd love to see pictures of this after you purchase it. I really hope it is as you've described, that sure would be interesting.

I'll get more info today... Serial # and history if possible. It's being raffled off so I reckon it could be an assembled from NOS piece, but I think it's something else.
Hell, maybe it's not even real... I'll dig deeper. This is definitely NOT a piece I could afford to buy if I wanted one...

Last year, CMP had two in their South Store. They wanted $25,000 each. They're gone now, so I guess, someone bought them.

I got a close up look today... It's a M1 A1 or 308... Not the true -60 style.

So is there a lot of value there still or naaaah?

if its 308, then its been altered from its origonal configuration. i would not pay more that 500.00 for it. i didnt even pay that for my origonal parts springfield m1 30-06! the Garand is an awsome rifle. i would get rid of all the others before i got ride of my garand. i just love it!!!!

Do you mean M1A? Go check out the Springfield site they are a tad over $1,400, depending how crazy you get with the options, if that is what your talking about. They are very good rifles too.

Yeah that's it! M1A Beautiful, and never shot in an original box I presume, with a wrist band saying "NOT FOR SALE IN KALIFORNIA BABY"...

Thanks for your thoughts!

sorry to burst your bubble.... but an M1A is nothing special. there are lots of them brand new and unfired. Springfield Armory Inc makes them every day....

not sure un-shot is a word.

Dang, when he said .308, my 1st thought was Navy Garand. Those are worth some coin today whether unfired or not (although technically all would be rebuilds).

If one exists your ganna have to put some some major $$
to get that puppy.. an original is expensive enough..

In terms of collector's value, maybe not. It's still one hell of a rifle that's worth anywhere from $1500 to $3000 depending on the configuration, though.
