hi guys,
i am new to this site, and it looks like a good one too.
I am going to reload .45 colt for my winchester 94 trapper. I am going to use 250gr. leverlution hornady flextip bullets. i want to hunt white tails deer with it.
does any one have loading data on these new lever bullets? they say my winchester can take some +P loads.
i have acc #5 , H4227, Ramshot true blue for powder,and IMR 3031

Tom, we can't recommend a load for a bullet that we don't have the weight.

I'm betting it is the 250 gr .452 FTX, #45201

Thanks

Man, am I getting that bad at reading ... or did you add that in the original post? :D

I'm thinking I just can't read any more.

Tom, I can't seem to drum any specific loads up for this bullet. Looks like maybe I should butt out of this one.

This is out of my personal knowledge base, however I looked at a few sights that I have bookmarked. I don't know if these help but here they are.

well,
The dr. smith load table shows starting point of 20 grains for a 250 grn. jhp
using H-4227 so..i am thinking that the 250 gr. jacketed ftx should be a close facimile to this load. the chart shows 1,353 fps. which is quite fast for the .45 colt.
unless someone knows better...i will try the load soon as my brass gets here.

Using H-110, 2400, or H-4227 with other 250 gr bullets would get you close. Nosler has standard and Ruger only loads to give you a wide reference. I would recommend the 300gr Colt bullets from Speer and Hornady.

Thanks for the welcome guys.
I currently load 230gr. lrn for the winchester and my vaquero.
.45 colt
I just want to try the hornady ftx bullets to see how they fly and work on deer. Most of the shots around here are well under 100yds. Big hardwoods and lots of thick stuff.
Today I put a big lever loop on the winchester trapper. I think it will be good in cold weather with gloves on.

Go to Hodgdons powder site and go into the reloading section. There is a whole page of loads if you select the high pressure .45 from the menu.
