I recently refinished an old sears shotgun for my wife to keep around the house. in process, I cut 9.5 in. off the barrel to a handy 18.5 in. Question: should I thread the barrel for a choke?

I would not bother using a choke in HD shotgun.JMHO.

You could have them put a bead on the front real cheap like I did mine.

Take care of your stock, thats the one part that is not a win1200...

What you have after cutting it is a cylinder bore. That's what most HD shotguns come standard with. I'm with P5...I wouldn't bother having it threaded. I'd put a sight on it...a bead, or maybe one of the clamp on (vent rib) or snap on (pl. bbl) sight options.

I've already tapped it for 4-40, but most of the beads I found were 5-32 so I have to put back in the mill and do it again. Does any one know where I can find a stock for it? As was pointed out, the stock is not winchester, it isn't mossberg, and it doesn't appear to be remington. I refinished/ repaired the original, but it is a little slick for the wife, and the gun is not worth the effort to checker it, or is there an attractive way to add some grip?
