Also, you could look for a dealer in your state:

Why someone would look for a Charter Arms is beyond me, however that last site posted is very good at locating dealers.

Despite the cost savings, you DO NOT want a new production Charter Arms anything. Read my previous posts on the subject. In addition to the problems I have had with my October 2008 production CA, I have recently discovered that the barrel was not cut straight! The front barrel sights are about 1/8 to the right of centerline of the bottom lug. As a consequence, the gun ALWAYS shoots 6-12 inches to the left if you choose to use them (and I am not good without sights). The barrel was a throw-away and instead, they slapped it on a frame and sent in out the door!

I would happily have paid an extra $200 bucks for a used S&W than have bought my Charter Arms. People swear by the pre-1990 models but the new ones are junk. You have been warned.

Well, there is certainly nothing wrong with buying one of the older Charter Arms models (like the Undercover .38 special 2" barrel). I have owned them before and they were great little carry guns. However, like Swampyankee just mentioned, I would definitely stay away from from the newer mode Charter Arms pistols. They just are not made as well as the older models, (in my opinion). You can pick up some of the older models on Gunbroker for around ($200-250) range.
Good luck

My grandad has a 38 snub from the 70s or 80s and it looks like a piece of junk and feels cheaply made. It is very light and the cylinder feels light too. And the cylinder release feels a little heavy when you push it and the cylinder wants to come out. It shot reliably at the range but it wasnt the smoothest trigger pull and the metal in the gun just felt cheaply made. I always thought that Charter Arms has gotten better but if you say the new ones are garbage, and from what I know of the old ones, I wouldnt buy one now

Unlike others, I will shoot an older Undercover and Bulldog .44. I have not cared for anything made by Charco or Charter 2000.
