I'm thinking about loading handgun rounds on a single stage press. Wanting to ease setup, I've reviewed using primed cases from the factory. Some of you have found problems in the past with case necks being slightly undersize, or incompletely expanded. What cases have you found to be more "load ready" from the factory?

Thanks in advance,

My exact question may actually be, "Do I need to run factory primed case through the expander die first?"

I would it seems the prudent thing to do.

The only expanding done on handgun cases is done with your second die in the set...the expander/charging die. If you feel the need to you can remove your depriming pin and resize the cases before expanding/charging. Chances are you don't need to resize, but it never hurts to resize brand new brass before reloading it...just to catch that slightly oblong case that the guy at the factory stepped on and then threw in with the others!!!!:D

ditto #4. I have used primed Federal brass from Natchez for a substantial saveings vs store-bought 'premium' rounds when loading for family and buddys.
.380acp, 9mm Para and .45acp.

Thanks all. If one bad apple is in a pile, I'm bound to get it! I've been shopping for availability with Natchez, Midsouth, and Midway. -7-
