Suppose you could only have 1 choke in your shotgun. What is the best all purpose choke to have?

I am not talking name brand but size.

For me, it would definately be IC. IC is good for slugs, skeet, home defense, close range dove, quail, small game, and ducks over decoys.

What it is marginal for is trap, longer range dove, pass shooting ducks, deer/hogs with buckshot.

What is is no good at all for is turkeys.

I'd have to go with Modified, myself.

Gives a little longer reach while still giving decent close-range performance.

The Modified choke is a pretty good choice. However, if you could only choose one and one only, it would have to be the Improved Cylinder. When its all said and done, its pretty hard to beat for all the reasons just listed in the prior thread responses to your question, (especially self defense).

Light Modified is easily the most versatile choke to have in a shotgun.

It is my #1 choke for hunting, and also for shooting sporting clays.

No, Light Modified is clearly more effective.

I have a light modified choke in my home defense shotgun, my FN SLP-1:
