an 8mm mag has a good amount of recoil...consider a decent scope to be good insurance that you'll not scramble the insides of the scope while sighting it in.
Think leupold VX-II or XV-III....

its just a 8mm mauser

still, the leupold XV-II is just about the best bang for the buck...

Zoomie has taste. ;) My favorite is the Nikon Monarch 2-8x32 (http://www.swfa.com/pc-12680-2201-nikon-2-8x32-monarch-riflescope.aspx). Very bright, exceptionally sharp, and has plenty of eye relief.

The Leupold 2x by 7 by 33mm is just $300 at Cabela's and is 4.9 to 3.8 of eye relief.
Or the Vary I shotgun scope 2x7 33mm with the heavy reticle for $210, it will make a good brush scope.
