Can anyone tell me where I could find a 18.5" smooth bore barrel for my 870 Wingmaster? I bought it in 1975 and it has the 2 3/4" receiver, it is not the magnum version.
I was at a gun shop last night and they demonstrated that the mounting hole location on the barrel is different for the 2 3/4" vs 3" receivers.
Thanks

Try that search on GunBroker, there a lot of them out there most you can get for around 100 bucks. I have an older 870(1976) and it took a 3" shell barrel fine(Its a 2 3/4"wingmaster) I know the 1100's changed and a 3" barrel will not always fit a 2 3/4 receiver.

Mossberg makes an 18.5" blued cylinder choke replacement barrel for the wingmaster. It usually runs a little over $100. The Mossberg product number is 90335. I've been tempted to order one myself but haven't seen anyone post as to how the finish matches the bluing on the wingmaster. For another hundred dollars I'm trying to find a Maverick with the short barrel to keep as my bedroom gun but everywhere I've checked online is out of stock.

Greetings, Justice and welcome aboard.
I was at a gun shop last night and they demonstrated that the mounting hole location on the barrel is different for the 2 3/4" vs 3" receivers.
Is it possible they were trying to fit a Remington 1100 or 11-87 barrel to your Wingmaster?

Midway (http://www.midwayusa.com/browse/BrowseProducts.aspx?pageNum=1&tabId=9&categoryId=11765&categoryString=10636***10560***9143***11373***) is one of many sources for Wingmaster barrels.

It could be a special field barrel. They have a shorter magazine.

I have a pair of 2 3/4" wingmasters that both wear 3" barrels as I was unable to find a used remchoke barrel with a 2 3/4" chambers.

The guys at the gun shop were WRONG, with the exception of some speciality barrels, 870 barrels are! Besides a magazine cap retainer change about 12 years ago, they all fit.

Local gun shops and pawn shops are your best bet, if all else fails you can try

They are a barrel broker and usually have whatever I am looking for.

Thanks for all of the replies. I placed an order with Mossberg (my small part in stimulating the ecomomy):)
Mossberg says it should ship within the next 2 weeks.
