I took my SPX apart, man was everything tight, really had to just punch the pins out and grab parts out, I was trying to be way to easy on the gun, wont make that mistake twice! Now that I have it all apart what all do I lube? I like using slide glide (grease) but don't know where all I would apply this, it really looks like EVERYTHING just gets a thin film of oil. The gun was very wet from the factory, which I like, with a dirty barrel, they must let some rounds fly at the factory?! Thanks for the help!

Lots of looks but no replies so I guess I'll have to jump in with one.

According to the manual, there aren't any specific points that require oiling.
"Normal use requires only that the mechanisms be free of excessive shooting residue. Very little lubrication other than a light oiling of internal and external surfaces to prevent rust is needed."

To me that means...clean thoroughly and then wipe everything down with an oily rag while reassembling. I do usually shoot a squirt of lube directly on the bolt, but I've always been a 'run it wet' sort of shooter.

My favorite lubricant right now is Eezox, available from Brownell's and sometimes local gunshots. I've been Very impressed with its ability to prevent rust and corrosion and it dries to a slick surface lube as well.

Thank you sir, I read the manual lots of times, it seems Mossberg says to just lightly lube everything. I used grease all around the slide\bolt area and just used lots of oil for everything else, like you I like everything wet, thats what made going to grease nice, no more leaky guns for days after cleaning. I had to really yank to get the bolt handle out. Same with the bolt out of the handle. Sure was a tight one! I went out and shot it, shot some extra heavy bird shot to break it in a little, couldn't believe how lite the recoil was. I will be going to the range to get it sighted in tomarrow, should be fun! Can't wait to do some rapid fire reduced recoil target shooting.

It eases up after awhile. Soon you'll be able to pull the operating handle out without problems. The receivers pins should always be tight since they have grooves in them that catch springs in the trigger group.

I'm sure you've read M24Shooter's reviews, he has a metric ton of useful information, especially how to put a sling on a shotgun that doesn't come with a front sling mount.

There are a couple people working on how to shorten the length of pull, which might be useful for 'tactical' applications (or just plain cold weather).

The next modification I plan, is to have a longer groove cut into the shell lifter so that double-feeds can be more easily be remedied. The 'smith I use says it shouldn't be any problem to do it.
