saw one of the uberti 1873 percussion revolvers recently. looked pretty slick, balanced well, nice case colors. used .452 diameter balls. aside from having to load the cylinder with a seperate tool, how are they? this one had fixed sights and were not filed yet. I thought this might be an interesting piece to add to the collection.

Fine shooting gun, easy to point and hold on target, accurate, well balanced and very nicely finished.

The cylinder removal and loading stand requirement is a PITA. One other bad trait: there's little room behind the cylinder to shed expended caps or pieces of caps; thus the gun is prone to cap jams.

Personally, if I'm gonna shoot cap `n ball, I'd rather do so with a topless Colt replica. The 1860 being my favorite. I like my 1873's to shoot metallic cartridges, the way the good Lord and William Mason intended. ;)
