View Full Version : 870 forearm disassembly

On another thread someone was talking about removing the retaining nut to remove the forearm on an 870. I'm sure most here have figured this out but here it is. If you cut a 10-15 (can't remember which) penny nail to the correct length you can drop it in to seat in the two cutouts. Take a pair of pliers and twist it off.

Depending on how tight the last guy torqued it that might work or they may just bend. I made a wrench out of a thick piece of hardwood with two steel pins (drill stock) mounted through it. It's held up for several guns now. If it doesn't want to turn off you need to get a proper wrench. If it slips off you could damgage the wooden forearm. Good luck.
