I found this video and was impressed with the calm, well thought out response, from a man who just survived being attacked by 2 armed men.

He said he shot to slide-lock... I wonder if he had a reload? :D

(Do I get some crossthread points for that?)

At 70 years old, thats amazing. I real fine example of why we have the CCW. I wonder how it will effect his ability to continue to clean and rent his units in that area. God bless him.

I'm glad it worked out for him, what a story! A great video that makes me sad that I live in WI (CCW free). Makes me consider packing anyways. Scary world out there.

I will bet that at some point during that altercation he wished he had! ;)

This guy is very lucky.

And good.

What is the saying? "Chance favors the prepared mind."

The predators chose their victim very unwisely in this case. They thought they picked out a sheep from the flock. Instead, they got the "teeth" of a vicious guard dog.

It is always heartwarming to hear stories about citizens who refuse to lay down for monsters like this. Mr. Jackson is a hero even though I doubt he would except the title if you gave it to him. He protected his wife and safeguarded his own life so that his children may continue to enjoy their father's company.

Outstanding video. Thanks for posting it.

Outstanding video. Thanks for posting it.

Glad you enjoyed it.

For me, beyond the Monday morning quarterbacking I immediately began while watching the video, I most enjoyed the attitude of Mr. Jackson. "If I'm gonna die I'm taking them with me".

My critique is Mr. Jackson only shooting the man holding the gun once before engaging the other who was not visibly armed. He should have focused his initial volley on the greatest threat IMO. A double tap at minimum, which would require only a fraction of a second to execute, yet would double the blood loss, pain, and chance of an instant stop. When #1 risk is no longer a risk then engage #2 risk.

If they both were equal risk then using Mr. Jacksons sequence would likely aid in survival because it puts both under duress instantly and will likely degrade their shooting ability as well as their ability to think.

Holy cow, what a story! That is nearly worst-case scenario with 2 guys getting the jump on you and a weapon pointed at you before you even realize it. It was his quick thinking that saved his life since his ruse gave him the few extra seconds needed to deploy his own weapon.

Thanks for posting this link. I plan to send it to every non-gun or anti-gun person I know because this is one of those "emotional" things that might change a mind or two. It also doesn't hurt that the victim is so soft spoken and comes off as a likable kind of person.

Good video. Seems like a very humble man. I am glad he and his wife made it out safely and unharmed. I am also glad that they were treated well by the police.

I hope if I ever use that line in a similar situation that I am faking!

He's a brave man, prepared and willing to use a firearm for the principle reason law abiding citizen's should have one - to defend his loved ones and himself from death and harm. He is to be applauded. Thank you for sharing the video.
