Hello, I'm new on this site. I live in Sweden and I've recently bought another original .44 Remmy. All numbers match, it's either 65xxx or 69xxx. Cant remember now. But maybe someone here has a list in their possession? I'd really like to know when it was made.

regards,

Daniel.

In addition to proof marks and manufacturers marking, ther should be a date code stamped on the frame. Here's the infor to decode the markings.

The site for dating Remingtons I used has gone down. They made around 100,000 of them from 1863-1875 so yours was probably made around 1873 or 74.

Fingers - he has an original Remington, not one of the Italian replicas.

Guess I should have read it more carefully - or while I was awake

Nice! Never seen a "real one" -- not an antique. Looks just like my Pietta! :D Only my Pietta is stainless.

Nice original. The Italian replicas have subtle differences (in grip shape/angle, in the top strap where it steps down to the barrel, and in the shape of the loading lever) but are close enough for me.
