I was given a Rem 870 with a ventilated rib barrel that measures 18 &7/8" long appears professionally cut back.. I like the pointability of a shotgun with a rib and am thinking of a "bead" type sight or any very low profile sites. I'll probably be using 00B (possibly #4 buck shot). The shotgun will be used for home defense.

3) Any suggestions on a low profile or "bead" type site

Thanks for the help

Or you can buy a brass/white plastic bead from gun manufacturers...

Something really simple like one of these? If your local smith doesn't have one, check Brownells (http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=1886&title=SIGHT%20BEADS)

I use this when I make HD shotguns from 870's.....

It is really stable once you get it "installed" and the bright bead can't be missed.....
