I got sick of waiting for my colt 1851 to come in the mail, (even though it's supposed to be here tomorrow) and i spotted a wolf .50 on sale at Dicks for 99.99. I figured I could get at least a little bit of fun out of it, at least a hundred bucks worth!
But this is my first muzzleloader and i couldn't be happier about it. I got pyrodex pellets and it came with some conical hollowpoints but I'm not sure what kind of primers to get, if theres good ones and bad ones

Any brand of caps should work fine, provided you get the right size for the nipple on your rifle. Be prepared for a lotta smoke & a BIG smile. Oh yeah, wear shoes cuz that's a nice tat on your foot & you don't want smoldering powder to pepper it ;)

The Winchester 209 Primers "think they are marketed as 777" works very well with my buds inline rifle similar to yours.

Look at the Pyrodex pellets, if they have a dark side to them place that side in the bore first, Pyrodex pellets used to have that dark igniter side that went into the bore first to help ignite the charge.

Just go to your local sporting goods store that sells reloading equipment and ask for shotgun primers. They are 209 primers.

I had a muzzle loader specialty shop in my area tell me they can't sell the 209 primers because they are not legal to hunt with. Phooey! Shooting and hunting are not the same thing. So I went down to our local Bi-Mart that sells some reloading stuff and bought a box of shotgun primers and had a great time with my Wolf.

Enjoy the experience. And welcome to the true shooting pleasure.
