just got my grandfathers shotgun he died three days after getting it never had a chance to shoot it. i have used it a couple times but now i want to know a little about it. It is a breda-brecisa semi auto 12gauge floating barrel only shoots 2 3/4 shells and the nubers are 3163a. From what I have been told it was bought in the late 60s to early 70s I am not for sure I was not born untill 1980. any info would be helpful my e-mail is

The Breda's have been known to crack at the receiver - I guess because of the recoiling barrel. Have a qualified gunsmith check it out carefully before shooting. If it is not marked "Magnum" I would not attempt to use magnum or steel loads in it. I think (repeat, think) these were Italian components assembled in Spain? Chokes are probably going to be very hard to get. If it is considered an heirloom by you - then clean it and put it away.
