Scottish .58 pistol

Hi,

I am just in business for a nice little Murdock Pistol with steel frame like the one from Dixies, but in .58 and a bit different looking.

Now my question, are they really meant to be shot or are they just decoration? I would love to have a .58 smooth barrel pistol just for fun if it holds together. Are there any replikas of that pistol I should avoid? Unfortunately I dont know which company made the pistol in the pic.

The reason why I ask is that I've got such a pistol with a brass frame and it is full of flaws, next to unshootable. I want to replace it with the model in the pic.

They are certainly meant to be fired. I wouldn't be surprised if the Dixie model is the same gun distributed by MVT, but it could also be from a different manufacturer or older production.
Did you read the reviews on the Dixie site? Just click the reviews tab located under the product description.
However Dixie's is described as not being drilled while the MVT pistol is. That's something to verfiy with MVT just to make sure.

Their FAQs page indicates that their guns are already drilled with the frizzens hardened, ready to be fired and made in India.

I have an Indian made Sea Service .66 smoothbore caplock pistol which functions and shoots great.
I've never bought from MVT but I would trust them because of the many good reports about their guns, especially if they're from different manufacturers. :)
