I am leaning close to buying a S&W Preformance shop 327 snubbie. I kinda like how it looks and the 8 round capacity. Price isn't too bad IMHO.
Anyone have one or their opinion of the 327?

Looks like a pocket full of kryptonite.

Tell you what: buy it and wring it out, then come tell us all about it. :)

My only concern would be the width that comes with an 8-round cylinder might make concealment surprisingly difficult.

what about holster options also since its not a "common" gun?

Another excellent question.

I have not been able to find a real downside to that round. As long as the ammo is going to be readily available, I say go for it.

That barrel is just too short, even for snubbie proportions. Yuk.

I must say, I agree with Smaug. Along with that, I'm curious about the future of the .327 and the availability of the ammo 2 years from now.

The Model is 327 and caliber is .357 Mag. I think that 357 will be around for years to come.:):):):)

The description says a 2" barrel but the picture says it is about 1/2" barrel. :)

That is a real snubbie. Are we talking about a .327 or a .357 caliber? Personally and only IMHO I would go for a J frame. The three extra rounds are not worth the extra cost, concern and size. :D

You want something with that large a cylinder you might as well get a 44 magnum snub and load it with 44 special self defense rounds.

It's a .357 mag. If you're experienced with revolvers, it looks to be a fine weapon. I call that a super-snub or a snubby-snub. :)

On barrel length: Look again. the barrel is measured to the face of the cylinder. It is a standard N frame size in lightweight metal. They are kind of big. I have looked at them at gun shows but the price and the size ran me off. The same gun is available in a 6 shot 45 ACP which would be another good back up and defense gun if the size was not a problem.

Being only 21 ounces do you want to deal with the recoil?

8 shot's, that is one high cap .357 snub. It's very unique. If you like it, go for it.

I have a 327 R8 M&P 5". it actually fits in my pocket of my lose jean pretty well.

I'd keep it loaded with 5 or 6 38 +Ps and the rest .357s.

Yes - very unfortunate choice of number designation by S&W, even if not intended - it is a bit confusing, and frustrating -- here we were hoping for a nice Smith in the new Federal ".32 Maximum" round.

Boy was I confused about the.357 being gone in 2 years. Cool lookin shooter and I bet mernickle would build a holster for it. An eight shot mod. 27 snubbie that weighs 21 oz. I shoot skeeters loads in my mod. 60 and the 327 has a lot more to hang onto.

Not much of a barrel for sure. Probaby wouldn't be a bad, get off of me gun, but right now I think I will stick with my S & W .357 bodyguard and Model 26 for CCW. Time will tell about the .327. Will it go away like the 327 chevy small block or will it stand the test of time? Let us know if you get one and how it does at the range.

It has the lock.

I would not use it for anything other than weighting a trotline.

Looks awful stumpy. I would imagine the flash from 357s would be WICKED!! Hope you don't mind powder burns.

Then again, if you didn't hit your target, at least you could set it on fire.:D

...but not unprecedented.

The M22 is a .45.
The M32 is a .38.
The M41 is a .22.
The M44 is a 9mm.
The M45 is a .22.
The M357 is a .41.

At least the M38 is in fact a .38. :)

It looks different, certainly. I'm having a failure of imagination getting my head wrapped around its proportions. It's probably just fine but I've never handled one.

It's a 2" barrel but appears shorter, presumably due to the rest of the thing being larger but the barrel is actually 1/8" longer than the garden variety 642.

I think I see air between the end of the extractor rod and the, unh, other thing. I'd presume it to have S&W's "facing forward" ball detent front lock though the web site doesn't mention this.

I believe the trigger stop and finish on the trigger / hammer means you're getting forged, if that matters.

It's only 5/8" longer and 6 ounces heavier than a 642. Girth would be another matter.

If it's like the 627PC the full moon clips are optional. Good thing, too. 8 rounds of .357 in a thin sheet metal holder remind me of locker room jokes concerning "trying to push a rope". I'd suspect 6 rounds of .45ACP are considerably less flacid but I don't know for sure - I've only attempted use of the 8 round 357 variety.

If you go for it, Bud's listing says "There are no reviews on this product yet. Be the first to write one:". If you do, fill us in as well.
