Hi everyone!
I'm looking at a Rossi 461 for $300 NIB. I have heard mostly good things about this gun from all the info I have read. Anyone here have any info based on their personal experience with the 461?

I have both the m461 and the m677 Rossi and love em.There will be some that say they aren't worth taking a second look at but you can get a lemon in anything you buy. Here is a bit of personal info i'll give you about carrying it,get you some low recoil 110 grain .38 fed hydra-shoks or some 130 grain personal defence hydra-shok .357 rounds.I like these rounds best because they are light on recoil and if you have to fire them inside it won't be as bad on your hearing. As far as paying 300.00 you can find them cheaper if you just look but that is the going rate for a new one.If you need a holster for then you can get a Bianchi #5 black widow that fits the S&W chief.

Good luck, mine (new) broke just about as soon as I got it last year. The replacement hasn't failed sense, of course I hardly ever shoot it very much. Bought a Ruger after that, so it was a $800+ lesson.

Prepair to have to pay shipping ($50) for Warranty work.

It seems to be a nice gun though. I put a lighter hammer spring in it, and it has a nice easy trigger pull. I keep .38's in it with the last shot a .357 Magsafe. I keep it as back-up of the back-up, of the back-up.

I picked up one from one of the guys at work, he got it to try to get into revolvers. He put 5 rounds through it and hated the way it shot. I have several S&W 65-3 pistols that were police trades. I swapped him and it became my summer carry. I like the gun, it shoots well, no nasty bite like an airlite small frame. I love putting 158 gr .357 rounds down the barrel.

The beauty of the 461/462 besides the 6 shot capacity is that the ammo can be tailored to the mission and the individual using the snubbie.

There are those who like the heavy 158 gr. full power loads as well as those who like the full power 125-140 gr. pills as well.

I took a different path. Federal ,Remington, and Speer load the 125-135 gr. magnum light rounds. Just a shade lower in velocity than the full power rounds yet have less recoil.

Also go with the 110gr. 357magnum rounds at times as well.

If not then +P .38 Specials fill the bill in 158 gr. LSWCHP guise.

Speer has the .38 Special 135gr. JHP +P for the snubbies and Buffalo Bore makes a 158 gr. LSWCHP +P and standard pressure load in that same bullet weight without the pressure of +P. Velocity is the same for the standard pressure round as for the +P. In otherwords high.

So there's a lot to choose from.
