Good morning all!! I am getting a ASM remington 44. with a brass frame. I already know that the reputation for ASM is kinda rough around the edges and that it is not good to overload a brass frame. This is my first revolver so I am not sure what all that I need to get for it. The revolver comes with nothing so I need to get it all!! Here comes a stupid question, I also have a CVA frontier that came naked. 50.cal. Can I use the same powder for both, or should they be different? Any advice for a begginner?

The powder will work. You need .454 balls, a powder measure, a powder flask,
Crisco for over ball lube or either over powder wads. Not sure what size caps it will take. You may have to try both sizes and different brands to see what works best. The rifle will take #11 so that's a good place to start. You will find a nipple wrench and a good set of hollow ground screwdrivers beneficial. Don't use petroleum products in the bore or chambers. Use vegetable based lubes like olive oil or Balistol. Cleanup is easy with soapy water and complete disassembly every time it's used isn't necessary. If I left anything out I'm sure somebody will chime in with it before long.

Here's the minimum of what you'll need to get started:

FFFg black powder or the equivalent in Pyrodex.

.454 balls.

11 or 10 caps--which ever fits best.

Crisco for over the balls to keep the powder residue soft.

I used brass cartridge cases as powder measures. I 45 acp case full of FFFG should give you a light load. Solder or epoxy a nail to the case.

A piece of dowel that will fit down the barrel and is long enough to knock a stuck ball out.

A plastic pen, dowel or pencil to set the caps after you push them on with your fingers.

A *revolver* nipple wrench--don't know how you can get around buying one.

Be especially methodical the first few times you shoot it. If you talk to the curious onlookers, chances are you load a ball without powder or not enough and get the ball stuck in the barrel (the dowel mentioned above.)

FFFg black powder or the equivalent in Pyrodex.

Actually Pyrodex RS(FFG)works as well as Pyrodex P(FFFG)for me.
