I just found out that walmart just raised 22lr federal bonus pack up by 21% from 11.53 to 13.97
Whats the deal? demand or inflation?

Noticed the same thing here, just a couple of nights ago. It's due to all of the ammo being shipped to Iraq and Afghanistan. Hey, wait a minute...

I bought five boxes two weeks ago at the old price. You think that may have influenced their decision?:D

My brothers and I pitched in to buy Dad a Henry .22 lever gun for Christmas and the box was $9 from Sportsman's Warehouse. I stopped in the other day to buy some for myself - $17(!)
I went to Walmart and paid the $13.

Pretty much all ammunition has gone up. The price of metals has risen and the cost of shipping stuff, especially heavy stuff, has gone up.
What's needed is "Change we can believe in" :barf:

Campbell Supply
Sioux Falls, SD
FEDERAL 500 count brick 22 LRHP:
$10.50 + tax
This was in 1971.
My 10/22 went through those bricks quickly back then.
-------
I have been buying a bulk pack or two every month or so for a
few years.
Real inflation has not hit 22 ammo IMO.....YET.

It's going up because the Chinese are using their huge stash of US dollars to buy raw materials. The cast bullets I use have more than doubled in the last year.
I agree with Old 112. Bulk rimfire ammo is still a huge bargain. How long has it hovered around ten bucks for 500rds?

Wal-Mart buys anything in large lots. Massive lots. So they might well have made one purchase before several price increases, and that lot kept them going as others (with lower inventories) had to raise prices. Then they needed more from the manufacturer, and as a result they have to pay the new higher price. This makes it look like the ammo took a HUGE price hike, when in fact it was just a bunch of smaller ones, only they came all at once.
Heck, their Winchester white box .45ACP FMJ has gone up by 50% in the last year.

Old 112 ,
500 bricks use to be 10.50 in 71. 3.50 isn't that much more. Concidering it has been almost 40 years. But I still liked the older price. Last months older price.:D
