It seems increasingly difficult to find new reasonably priced SxS that have a consistently good "track record" for reliablity. I started out shooting my dad's 16 ga Stevens SxS that he bought around the end of WWII. I shot well with it and used it for bunnies, ducks, grouse, pheasants... Then I got the itch to go with something diffferent and bought a 870 Wingmaster in the early 70's and loved it. That itch has since evolved into a regular 870 and O/U Citoris.
I'm at a point in my life where I'd like to buy a new...or a good used...SxS. While I can shoot reasonably well with all models, the SxS tends to get my eye on the target more quickly. The old Stevens still shoots pretty well, but it's a heavy beast and I'd like something lighter. However, there seems to be mixed reviews of lower priced SxS these days, assuming you can find them. I've had my eye on CZ, but, then again, read or hear reports of breakdowns to go with the good reviews.
I want a field gun that is reliable...most likely in a 20ga. I'd like to keep the price under $1200 or so. Any suggestions?
