my shotgun

i just purchased a double barrel shotgun. i can find no markings on it what so ever. the hammers on it are very curvish. i was told it is a remington 1897 and that it was dated by the hammer. when i looked it up on guns america and looked it up.and it looked just like remington 189?. i know this is not much help, but i hope it is. Please help. Thank you in advence

If it's a Remington, It will be marked as such. Post the letters and numbers on the water table, where the barrels rest on the frame.. JFC
