Hey guys,
New to the forums. I have about a 1k round experience with my old 70$ (paper route money) 12ga New England single shot. Skill wise about 8/10 hand thrown clays with it. Even able to get 2 thrown at the same time. (no easy feat for a break open single shot).

Just got my first rifle a Ruger 10/22lr synthetic stock and stainless barrel. Money is tight but id really like to add a decent/cheap short sub 12" bipod and swivel/strap to it. I'm googleing all over but cant find if it is possible to simultaneously have both with this gun. I'm hoping someone here knows if its possible and if so can point me to a compatible combo.

looking to spend about

-swivel and carry strap.... 10-25$
-bipod.... 30-40$

I have a cabelas, walmart nearby. Or Amazon.com had some really low prices. (just cant find compatibility information hence why i am here.

You may be wondering why i "need" both; i fractured my spine a few years ago my left arm isn't always stable since then hence the bipod on a 5pound gun. I have a wife and home now that id like to protect without waiting for bad guys to get into shotgun range. The 10/22 is a short term measure while i save up for a proper 200yrd .223 rifle. Decided to get the 10/22 first as i doubt i could hit crap with a .223 first and couldn't afford to practice with it. So any help with this tricky combo would be much appreciated, guys at gun shop had no idea about it.

The easiest way is to add a two swivel studs to the forend. Screw a couple of these in:

Or add one of their barrel bands if they have the correct size. Here are some other sets, if you can't use a whole dozen, make some of your money back selling them to friends or mounting them on their guns. Refills:

Harris has some different attachments here, too:

The bipods are a little more than you want to spend, but I see them used all the time. I'd rather save for one than get a cheap plastic barrel clamp-on bipod that you will eventually hate.

And when you get a chance be sure to trick out that 10-22. Brownell's has about a million custom parts for them, great project gun:

Welcome again.

I have the exact same Ruger 10/22. I was thinking about replacing the stock so I could put on a bipod. Doing so would also get rid of the barrel band; basically allow it to be a 'free floating barrel'. Many if not most stocks already have the swivel stud on the front too.

Check out Midway USA for instance. There are so many different types of stocks. Here's a search link:
http://www.midwayusa.com/esearch.exe/search?search_keywords=10%2F22+stock&category_selector=all_products

There are 3 main things I don't like about the stock that came with it. The butt is hollow and feels chiny, I don't like the barrel band, and no swivel studs.

Here's some that I was looking at.
Hogue OverMolded Stock Ruger 10/22 .920" Barrel Channel Rubber Black $64.99

Ram-Line Syntech Stock Ruger 10/22 Standard Barrel Channel Synthetic Black $48.49

A quick install of a swivel stud would be a quick fix though :D
