I'm traveling from Texas to Pennsylvania, then from PA to North Carolina.
I have concealed carry license for Texas. I want to take my handgun in the vehicle while traveling the interstate. I will be going through Arkansas, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland then stopping in Pennsylvania for a couple of days. Then PA to North Carolina.

Can I carry my CCW in the car through these states legally? I believe Texas has receprical agreements with all but Maryland and West Virginia, but that doesn't mean you can't get arrested by some jerk. what's the mood out there in your state? what are your recommendations ( besides stay in Texas);)

I want to see how Yankees live:D:D

I'd start by checking here. If you have additional questions, call the State AG.

Check out your local gun shops for the 2008 edition of the "Travelers Guide to Firearms Laws in the 50 States". Cost about $13-15.00.

Have a safe trip. BTW, you will like Pennsylvania!!

Try carryconcealed.net

They show you good everywhere but MD and WV.

I have heard and read so many stories of people having the police harass them and illegally confiscate their handguns, that I don't think traveling with the gun in the passenger area is worth the risk. Keep it locked in the trunk separate from the ammo while traveling.

If the political atmosphere was more gun friendly, then I would reconsider my opinion.

My whole purpose of bring my handgun is to have a degree of safety at the roadside stops. Gun wouldn't be of much use locked in the trunk.

Looks like I can CCW in the vehicle everywhere but Maryland and WV. I'll have to lock it up there, but I'll only be in those states a couple of hours.
Thanks for the great web site references.

It sure would be nice if there was a Federal CCW permit that allowed you to carry while traveling. Can we get a petition going??

I lived in PA for many years. Yes it is a great state. So are Maryland and West Virginia, too bad there are so many O- bumma political types there.
