Don't forget what day it is.

A lot of guys went to the beach 64 years ago today.

The beaches were in Normandy.

US casualties were 1465 dead, 3184 wounded, 1928 missing and 26 captured.

A little guy who played a wimp on the screen was there with a rifle in his hand(Charles Durning).A big guy who played a hero on the screen was in California making movies(Marion Morrison aka John Wayne).I won't watch a movie with the "Duck" in it.

my dad was there, on a Navy ship at Omaha Beach, bringing them to the beach...used to tell some cool stories when we were kids....

John Wayne was 34 when the war started. While he could have served, he was hardly in the prime of life for active duty.

deleted.

I wont start a flame about Mr. Marion Morrison when this thread should acknowledge the GREAT effort and sacrifice our boys made on the beached of Normandy.

Ditto to all the above.

All my uncles and my father served in that war. Don't ever forget to thank a soldier ever.

Thank you.
