It simply says Model 336 on barrel. No letter. The serial number is 8 digits in length. 2 barrel bands. Fore stock is smaller from band to tip. Rear stock has a white accent than black plastic butt cap. the "lump" (don't know the name) that would be the end of a pitol grip is white accent under black plastic also held in place with a brass screw. It also has a swivel mount "plug"of white and black as well. It has a gold trigger and the lever is slightly curved.
I also need detailed info on tear down and any tricks and tips.
Thanks, Brent

Brent, it sounds like you have a Marlin Model 336C made before 1982. This is when Marlin switched from a gold-plater trigger to a blued trigger. The link below is the owners manual for this model which includes disassembly information.

Hope this helps!

Thanks, So far I am leaning towards it being a c model with real walnut. I was sent to a link that has dated y.o.m. as 1975 so I think I am narrowing it down.
That manual is opening (slow butt dial up) and will really help too.

That "plug" you're talking abou is not for a sling swivel. thats marlin's "bullseye" symbol. It means that your rifle has a walnut stock. don't drill through or remove the plug.
