View Full Version : Eotech on AR-15 - Placement

Is there an optimal location to place an Eotech (such as a 512)? What do you prefer.. why?

I have a Bushmaster M4gery and my EoTech sits squarely above the ejection port. I left enough room between it and my BUIS so that I can easily manipulate the buttons on the sight. Much like this:
I have seen some people mount their sight all the way aft in place of a BUIS, but I prefer to always keep a BUIS installed.

Creature has it in the right place. Put it as far forward as possible. It will take up less of your field of vision and lets you see better. Also easier to manipulate your BUIS

My 512 is mounted similarly, but because it uses the longer AA batteries, it extends farther to the rear, closer to my BUIS. It does, however, almost touch my handguard snapring.

forward is the way to go if you want to use a BUIS on the rail....the 512 is a bit long but fits perfectly if you mount it exactly in the same position as what is depicted in the picture on the cover of the box the Eotech came in. I have room to access the Eotech buttons and can flip up my rear sight and sight/shoot directly through the Eotech screen....I really like it set up that way.

I have mounted one on the quad rail with good results. That's about as forward as you can get! As said previously, excellent field of view, doesn't interfere with other stuff on the rifle either.

This is my current setup now and seems to be a good compromise between function and ergonomics.

I have mine in a similar position...

Same as Trinity here, give or take a notch

I have a 512 that is mounted on the flat top rail just forward of the fixed A2 rear sight. This works real well on my rifle, and if it ever goes down I can still see the irons right through the helo sight. The UTE2 upper looks like you took an A2 and cut off the carry handle and mounted a flat top style rail in it's place.

I'm on board with everyone else. I like mine where it is; close, but still have enough room to get to the buttons easily.

Now this is just plain silly to me...
