I plan on going to South Dakota to shoot P-dogs. Is the middle of May to early??

More than likely not. If the sun is out, dry, and anywhere above freezing- you ought to be able to heat up some bbl's.

What rifle(s) are you hauling out there?

For the last 2 years I went the end of May. Last year it rained so much, that this year we are pushing it back to June 14th. Its a fine line of wanting to wait for perfect weather and also want to get to them before they've been shot at much.
