I may be looking to buy a small caliber percussion rifle to be used at a Christian outdoors mission. Some of the girls and youngsters were maybe a little nervous about shooting my .50 caliber. If you have an old .32 or so percussion sitting around, why not donate it to the Mission Outdoors and let kids shoot it.

That's a good idea but I don't have one that small.

What age group are you looking at? We teach youngsters all the time and want to get an idea of what you are looking at. It's possible that you might be able to step up to a .45 or .50 and download. We do this all the time. As far as cheap, again what are you looking at. Last month I saw a .32 Squirrel rifle for $125.00 and believe me, that is about as cheap as you are going find. However, there are some used Bodcat models that go for about $50 or $60. Again, these woule be .50's. You get what you pay for. Perhaps you could get one of the conservation groups to donate a couple.

I think the youngest I had this month was about 10 or 11. Some of the girls were ok after I assured them that I only used about 30 grains. Of course the teenage guys all wanted 100 or 120 grains! I bet I loaded that thing 100 times. My wife finally said "I guess you'll have to teach me to load." Maybe I can get her to shooting too. Anyway, I guess any other gun would help.

Contact CVA and see if can be of any help. I know they use to have refurbished M/L's for folks that are into teaching youth groups. I have a few accessories that I could send you. Send me a private message and give me your address, if you are interested. Will not ship any powder or primers.

Going ok I guess. Still looking for some additional rifles. I am mailing some letters out tomorrow morning to CVA, Mossberg and Dixie Gun Works. CVA will probably have some refurbs to donate. Dixie I hear likes to help with youth activities. Hopefully, there will be a lot of kids there on the 7th to enjoy them, and a lot of adults too.:D

--I have a couple extra small caliber rifles in my shop but I couldn't "donate" them. One is a .32 Traditions Deer Hunter in synthetic stock, the other is a Double J Gunworks .36 Half Stock Rifle. Also have a .45 Half Stock that weighs less than 6 lbs. The Half Stock Rifles have 25-1/2" GM barrels/ Davis locks.
