Very nice,
Did you weigh it?

Bamanut
April 12, 2008, 07:51 PM
Guys thank you ...yes this was a pretty unique buck that was aged to be between 7 and 9 years old with only 4 teeth left ...weighed on the hoof at 337 lbs and I shot him in the 4th week of the rut so he had run off a lot of weight chasing doe's for three weeks ,,,he only had a 11.5 in inside spread but scored 185 1/8....Rigby I shot him with a TC Encore 7/08 at 175 yards...it was 12 below 0 that morning

"...it was 12 below 0..." 'F' correct? -11C is nothing. What time is dinner?

Bamanut
April 13, 2008, 07:16 AM
Yes it was 12 below 0 ...it was so cold that moring that I saw a wolf with a set of jumper cables trying to boost off a jack rabbit :D ....by the way how do you embed a picture on this thread ...ive tried to use Photobucket but for some reason can't get the picture to post ...

Nice buck there! With photobucket, I use the bottom link to make pics show. Just make sure you "select all", as the link is long, then copy and then paste in your post here. At least that works for me.

If you bought my Blaser .270 (we are discussing you buying from me) you could shoot an even bigger buck! Just kidding. I envy you as I haven't taken a buck like that in my whole life or even close to it. Rick

Thank you Rick ...I had hunted Canada 5 times before ever seeing a buck like this one ...its a tuff hunt ...spending 10 to 12 hours in the box a day ...sub 0 temps ...and then finally getting a shot at a buck of a life time with a single shot rifle ...I was just lucky to be in the right place at the right time

That is one very fine buck.

Were you looking for a unique buck (freak) or just your lucky day?

Scott I wish that I could tell you that I was hunting for a buck just like the one I got but to be honest I was just hunting for a deer with some mass ...never in my wildest dreams did I expect to shoot a buck like this one ...there are larger bucks then this one in the wwoods in Canada but not many that has the charactor this deer had

Well Bamanut I really envy you because this is an outstanding buck. I have hunted for years (more than I care to admit) for both Mules and Whitetails and have yet to come across any big freaks. Most years I never shoot a shot just hoping for that right one. YOU have something there to be very proud of and you have photos of both you and the deer that are also outstanding. Congratulations again.

this pictur was taken from the tent blind I was hunting in ....the buck crossed the shooting lane about 175 yards from me and I had very little time to make the shot.

Very nice deer with alot of mass.the prairie provinces hold many great hunting opportunities with incredibly large deer that of in body and antler.
