I am currently looking for a powder that will work really well for loading 168gr BTHP 308's, and still be able to load the same powder in 55gr .223's. At this time I am not really looking for a high performance round for my .223, just something that works well in my .308 and is still sufecient for my .223. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I'd nominate Ramshot TAC, IMR 4895 then Hodgdon VARGET; in that order.

I have been hearing a lot of good stuff about Reloader 15 and Varget. Any thoughts on those?

You don't hear a lot about this powder, and I'm not sure why, but WW 748 is a great powder for both calibers.

I haven't tried RL15 and I like Varget in .308. (pet load is 41.0gr under a 180gr Sierra SBT - 2.800 OAL)
Varget in a .223, for me, prefers a compressed load but that can cause my press to deform hollowpoint bullets when I try to seat them. With non HP bullets Varget preforms quite well.
Some folks complain since Varget is an extruded powder the little sticks don't meter as well as a ball type powder. Hasn't bothered me too much.

Benchmark, Varget, RL 15 Win748. These are the ones I am working with right now.

I've been using Varget for ahwile, 2-3000 rounds I've loaded and shot. Mostly started using it because it's supposed to be a good powder for my ar15. I've got half inch groups with it using hornady 55 grain spire point bullets out of my Bushmaster Varminter and my CZ 527
