All this talk about the Knoxx systems on here talked me into getting one myself for my 500 today. I'm not much into the "tacticool" stocks but did get the full stock version. I just put 20 rounds of 3" 00 buck through it and it works great, I'd say cut recoil in half. I did have to take a dremel to the Hogue forend that come with it...and had to trim the stock some were the back of the trigger assembly fits into it but it wasn't that much and overall I'm happy with it. I recommend it. :)

But I like the Before:). I was tempted to buy an Old cruisergun like that.

Instead, I opted for a Maverick 88(nib for $160) I have a dealer buddy that lets me buy at cost. One thing I learned real fast is, even #7 shot whips a** in an 18.5 inch barrel.

I have a lead on a Knoxx stock. Hopefully that curbs recoil(i'd like for my wife to shoot without Flinch)

Fantastic. I had a SpecOps, but wish it was a CompStock like yours.

I was hoping to find someone that put one of these on their 500. Curious, do you find sight alignment/cheek weld is any different from the stock setup?

Nope, lines up the same as the wood.

I put a Compstock on my Mossberg 835. I love that thing. I never enjoyed shooting heavy loads before I bought that stock. I went through the same game with the forearm, on my 835 and a Winchester Defender and don't understand WHY they don't put something in the instructions about the forearms not fitting all the guns, but I guess that is their bad. If they sold the stock without the forearm I would go that route. Regardless, the Compstock works great for me.

I will be looking into on of those in the future. I have an 870 police shotgun and the recoil is so brutal that my shooting partner has nicknamed it "the mule". If the Knoxx system helps your 500, I'm sure it will tame my equestrian companion :D.

I got a spec ops on my 870 it's worth every penny try one with 3" 00buck and you'll see why

I put the spec opps on my 590 as well and it does tame the recoil down at least by half. Makes it much more of a push than a sharp smack. Slugs and 00 buck are much friendlier now.

By the way I went with the Spec Opps for the adjustable stock feature. It works great and my wife and I can both shoot it.
