View Full Version : Help! What is it?

My buddy just got this shotgun from an uncle, he said there aren't any #'s on it and no name, any ideas? I imagine you have to break it down to find the numbers, but does anyone recognize what it might be?

I have one very similar I call my "Granny Clampett". Mine has no serial number either. You can see mine here:

Looks to be a standard-pattern external-hammer side by side, probably imported from Belgium; if there are any names or addresses on it, they'll probably be either on the top of the rib between the barrels, or on the sides of the lockplates, where the hammers are. The shotgun should be serial-numbered on the receiver (on the water-table, where the barrels fold down to lock closed), on the barrel lug, and possibly on the hanging iron of the forearm (when you take the forearm off, there will be a metal piece to allow it to attach to the barrels). If the shotgun is European (most likely Belgian), there'll be a series of stamps showing that it passed proof, what gauge it is, and the measurements of the bore.
