I understand that if I put a Surefire forearm replacement on my 590A1 that I will need to cut the bayonet lug off. Any other ideas for lights that would not require removing the lug?

Get an Ergo three rail fore end and put a Streamlight TLR1 on it.
You get a very good LED unit and don't have to worry about a tape switch or pigtail wire getting caught up in the action.
With the three rail you can position the light on either side. It might clear the "accessory lug" underneath as well. I don't know that for sure though.

m24shooter,

That light make it out to you yet?

Negative, but I had to go out of town yesterday so it might be there when I get in today.

That ergo rail doesn't look confortable for the hand, what do you say about it?

That's why you put covers on it. You can use ladders for a low pro or the KAC/Magpul XTs. I wouldn't use the KAC panels, as they tend to be a little too fat and can get slick with use. The XTs would be more "grippy."

I had some problems with Tango Downs(?) on my gun. The rail under the fingers would not hold and slipped off a little. I would put them back in place between strings. Not a big deal, but enough that I moved on to the low profile ladders. I also found the Full covers a little "fat".
