I need some info i am new here, i have an stevens 311-A 12 GA the reciever is nickel plated, it has dark wood not checkered, has MCfollowed by H in a circle allover it not sure where the serial # is barrels look about 30 inches long maybe 28 not sure cant find tape measure right now takes a 2 3/4 shells. my dad, brother and grandfather all have a stevens side by side in all guages, and i also have a sbs .410 checkered grips, really nice shoots great takes 3 inch shells anyway any ideas about how old, why its nickel silver etc. my dad gave it to me when i was about 13 it looks likeit has a 25th inside a circle on the bottom of the reciever. thanks again for any help

A=1949....X=1970 there was no "O" or "Q". So H would be 56. Stevens 311's didn't have serial numbers till 1968

I'm just going out on a limb here- but I'd venture a guess that based on how few of them I've seen/heard of- they are probably pretty rare. Is it possible that it was a post-factory job?

doesnt look that way to me, letters are very crisp and deep all numbers are very clear inside and out, if it was it was a great job, all the parts are done except the barrell, so i dont rally know, but i would guess no by the way it looks ill post some pics
