Do you have any suggestions for books that were useful for training?
I have read Tiger Mcgee's book...are there others that are on your "must read"list

Tiger's book is great.. it is a testament to his "studentness" as much as his instructorness. It was the only other book that we sold at the VTC store.
If you want books on "training" as opposed to any specific topic, I would suggest "Training at the Speed of Life" and "Train to Win" (Murray and Doss, respectively) and "On Combat" by Grossman.

I suggest two as must haves..
1) Kill Or get Killed by Rex Applegate
2) Street Survival--Tactics For Armed Encounters by Calibre Press.
Nearly every aspect of armed--and some unarmed--combat can be had in these two volumes.

Kill or be Killed is a good book, cover many possibilities. There is also plenty of outdated cold war era talk about Red agitaitors.
My favorite part is the bit about collapsing batons (ASP type) being poorly suited to police work since they were designed to kill rather than restrain. I would agree myself, just think that things like that show an overall change in attitude with police work.

Actually Applegate was talking about a steel cosh, which was designed as a killing tool during WW2.
The ASP is just a non lethal variation of this tool.
