All -

Title is self-explanatory. Do I need to resize these pieces of brass again through the 45ACP dies, or are the dimensions of the 45 Colt/45 ACP close enough to call it good? The OAL is ok, I checked it w/ calipers.

If you have a set of ACP dies why use the LC:confused:

You still need a set of dies for the ACP since you don’t want to use the crimp/seating die of the LC. Plus the expander ball on the OC can bell the case much more than you need for the AC if you want your cases to last.
Do your self a favor if you don’t have one and get a taper crimp die for the ACP. It will make your loads much more reliable and your cases last longer too.

Are you military, and if you are that may be one reason.
By the way if your military over there,,,,, Thanks!

I have the ACP dies, but for some unknown reason (18 month old screaming in the background?), I failed to switch turrets on my press before I started sizing.

I need to update my location, I came back from Afghanistan in 05, went to Iraq in 06, and just got back about a month ago. Thanks for the support.

the only change from one to the other is seating length. I have a seating die set up for each and switch it in my turret when I switch calibers. Hope this is of help.

+1 on the "Thanks for your service to our country!"

If the cases fit easily into the chamber of your pistol and you don't wind up with a bulge when the bullet is seated, then your good too go.:)

+2. Thank you for going there for all of us, for me as well. I guess if you've got the calibers just do a quick check of your case wall thickness to make sure it's all kosher.

Oh, we've all done it, and gotten away with it mostly, sometimes just screwing up some cases, but it ain't a good idea. And a really really bad one when you are weighing and charging powder!

Book says .45 ACP is .476 at the head, tapering to .473 at the mouth. .45 Colt is .480 the whole length. Best thing would be to resize them in the correct (ACP) die. However, if they will drop into your .45acp chamber cleanly, you could just continue to load them with ACP dies. If they will not chamber properly, then you must resize them in ACP dies.

I have 3 sets of .45 dies and all thre boxes (Hornady, Lee, RCBS) say .45 acp, LC, WIN on the box. I am going to say there is no difference. Same sizing Die. BTW anyone need to buy some .45 dies? My New set of Dillons are the only ones that read .45 ACP
